Bob and the Git!
Improving the way I make my software has been on my mind for some time and just recently I’ve actually taking a couple of good steps (I hope) to achieving these improvements.
One of the things that sparked these improvements has been some videos by Robert C Martin (aka Uncle Bob) about how to write clean code. The videos cover some fairly standard coding practices but there’s also some new and …challenging ideas being put forward. I’d definitely recommend that anyone who wants to improve their coding standards check the videos out.
I’ve also finally got around to setting up GIT at home. I’ve used a few different version control systems at work (GIT being the current favourite) but I’ve always been a bit more slack with how I keep my code safe and organised at home. GIT is really quick and easy to set up so it’s just plain laziness on my part!
Anyway it’s setup now and I think it’s already improved the way I’m working on some of the projects on here. So hopefully I’ll be able to do a few new releases in the not too distant future.
